WPL 2023: 5 Indian bowlers to watch out for
Here are five Indian bowlers who could deliver remarkable performances to their franchises in the maiden season of the WPL.
2. Deepti Sharma
Deepti Sharma became the fourth-most expensive player at the 2023 WPL auction after her teammate Smriti Mandhana (INR 3.4 crore), England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt (INR 3.2 crore), and Australia all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner (INR 3.2 crore). The veteran fetched INR 2.6 crore from UP Warriorz and became the talk of the town.
The franchise got her for the extravaganza after going through a bidding war with MI, GG, and DC on the auction table. For the Warriorz, she will be important for their success in the maiden WPL season. Relying on her magnificent bowling skills, the franchise will want her to do wonders with the support of England spinner Sophie Ecclestone.
This year, she has looked phenomenal for the national squad racking up 15 wickets in 10 WT20Is at an economy of 6.69. In the 2023 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, she became the second-highest wicket-taker for India bagging six wickets in five games at an economy of 7.76.
