Ashleigh Gardner looked exceptional for Australia Women in 2022. As an efficient all-rounder, she played a crucial role in her team’s historic victory in the Commonwealth Games Women’s Cricket Competition. With 96 runs and five scalps in five matches, she contributed to her team’s triumph in the tournament.   

Appearing in 16 WT20I contests in 2022, Gardner amassed 216 runs with two fifties at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 152.11. As a bowler too, the youngster looked fierce notching up 15 wickets at an economy of 5.56. Currently, she is holding the number 1 spot in the Women’s T20I player rankings for all-rounders.

Before the 2023 WPL auction, Gardner was one of the favourites to grab decent money due to her present form. Starting at her base price of INR 50 lakh at the event, the fearless Australia all-rounder attracted the attention of the franchises Mumbai Indians (MI), Gujarat Giants (GG), and UP Warriorz (UPW). However, it was GG that roped in the Aussie player paying a huge sum of INR 3.2 crore.
