WPL 2023: 5 youngsters to watch out for
These youngsters will back themselves to showcase their talent and become notable names in the T20 league.
2. Parshavi Chopra (UP Warriorz)
Parshavi Chopra grabbed a lot of eyes after the 2023 U19 World Cup as she ended up becoming the second-leading wicket-taker. Scalping 11 wickets in six matches at an economy of 3.66, she played a major role in her team’s impressive title triumph. In the game against Sri Lanka U-19, she bagged 4/5 and helped India win the match convincingly.
Her mind-boggling bowling performances attracted UP Warriorz (UPW) in the 2023 WPL auction as she got signed by the franchise at her base price of INR 10 lakh. For upcoming games, UPW may trust Chopra’s bowling potential and induct her into their playing XI.
With experienced Shabnim Ismail and young Deepti Sharma, she has the ability to increase the strength of UPW’s spin unit. In the U-19 World Cup, she was seen outfoxing batters with her googly. As the competition is getting played in India, where wickets help spinners, the leggie could prove herself more effective against batters.
