WPL 2024: 5 retained players who lost their place in playing 11

The WPL 2024 has concluded on a gold note. RCB women overcame DC women to become champions in the second edition of the league. There were many good matches in the league. All the matches took place either in Bangalore or in Delhi. It was an entertaining tournament where the fans witnessed some close matches. Most of the matches witnessed great turnout and the second edition of the league turned out to be a success. The teams did not trust their players from the previous version. Some of the players were replaced by new players who were brought from the auction. Some of the players had great performances, while some were not that good. Some of the players seemed out of touch. Some of the players missed out on getting a chance to play due to the team combination and better options. Here are the five retained players who missed out on playing 11 in the entire WPL 2024: 5. Issy Wong Issy Wong. (Photo Source: X(Twitter) Issy Wong was one of the best players in the WPL 2023. The star player claimed 15 wickets in ten matches at an average of 14, at a bowling SR of 13. She was the second-highest wicket-taker in the WPL 2023. However, as MI picked Shabnim Ismail in the WPL auction 2024, they opted to bench Wong. Amandeep is one of them, who was retained for WPL 2024, thanks to her good performances in the WPL 2023. The youngster was handy with the ball and scored crucial runs for MI in the inaugural edition. However, the likes of Amanjot Kaur and Sajeevan Sajana were preferred ahead of Amandeep in the second edition of the league. 3. Lauren Bell Lauren Bell. (Photo Source: WPL) Lauren Bell is an impressive player in women's cricket. The right-arm pacer can bowl quickly and threaten the batters with her sheer pace. In addition to it, she can move the ball. The English pacer's skills helped her to bag a contract in the WPL. UP Warriorz bought them in the WPL 2023. However, the 23-year-old pulled out of the league. Chamari Athapaththu came in as her replacement for Warriorz. 2. Laura Harris Laura Harris. Meg Lanning was the skipper who was a sure player in the XI. Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen brought the balance to the side with their All-around capabilities. Alice Capsey sealed her spot with good performances. Hence, there was no spot for Harris in the playing XI of DC. 1. Chloe Tryon Chloe Tryon. The South African cricketer could not get a game due to the presence of great overseas players in the Mumbai Indians. At the top, MI had Hayley Matthews. They also had Nat Sciver Brunt and Amelia Kerr as All Rounders. MI got the pace of Shabnim Ismail in the bowling unit. Hence, there was no spot for the All-Rounder in MI during the second edition of the WPL.
