Cricket Australia pens an open letter to the BCCI thanking them for the co-operation
The letter called this edition of the Border Gavaskar Trophy one of the best to have been contested ever.
In the last two months, we have witnessed some really tough cricket Down Under between India and Australia. The two teams battled it out in three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Test matches in this period. At one point in time, the tour was looking unlikely to happen due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. However, with Cricket Australia’s determination and the help of the officials, the tour happened as planned and nothing went out of order, as far as the coronavirus danger was concerned.
On Wednesday, Cricket Australia thanked the BCCI and its players in an open letter. The written piece of appreciation was uploaded by the BCCI. The letter started with a special message in which they stated how grateful Australia cricket was to the BCCI for showing cooperation in these tough times.
‘Australian cricket will forever be grateful to the BCCI,’ CA says in the open letter
“Australian cricket will forever be grateful to the BCCI for their friendship, trust and commitment in helping to deliver a series that has brought joy to many millions of people around the world at a time they needed it most,” the beginning of the letter stated. The letter further mentioned the challenges which the Indian team might have faced during the tour, but still overcame them to play in this series. It also called this edition of the Border Gavaskar Trophy one of the best to have been contested ever.
The letter also highlighted some of the key moments and performances of this series from both sides. “From the sublime fast bowling of Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins to the wonderful batting of Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith to the exciting debuts of Shubman Gill and Cameron Green and much, much more- the past two months of cricket have been absolutely enthralling,” it read.
Cricket Australia congratulates Team India on their historic win
They ended the letter with a congratulatory message for Team India for winning the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 by 2-1, hence retaining it. India had also won the last series between the two sides when they had played in Australia during the 2018-19 Australian summer. “On behalf of everyone at Cricket Australia, we congratulate Team India for the resilience, courage and skill demonstrated in retaining the Border Gavaskar Trophy in a series that will be talked about for generations to come,” the letter read at the end.
The Indian team scripted history during this tour to Australia. After losing the ODI series 1-2, the side came back strongly to outperform the hosts in every department in the following matches. They won the T20I series 2-1. But, their most difficult challenge was going to be the Test series, which they succeeded in winning against all the odds.
