Cricket Australia rubbishes claims of fiery conversation with head coach Justin Langer
Justin Langer’s contract officially comes to an end in June this year.
There were some reports doing the rounds that Justin Langer had thrown some tantrums in a meeting after he was asked to reapply for the job of head coach of the Australian cricket team.
Langer’s contract officially comes to an end in June this year, and there were talks that there was some tension in the kangaroos’ dressing room due to Langer’s style of managing players.
Cricket Australia has now said that there was no ‘fiery’ exchange that took place in the meeting and added that they would not like to comment on the confidential matter that governs Australian cricket.
“While we do not comment on confidential conversations, we felt on this occasion it was important to correct the record. Among other false claims, we reject outright the assertion that the meeting was fiery or heated and that Justin was asked to reapply for his job,” said Cricket Australia in a statement.
There is no need for an absolute cricket coach for Australia now: Mark Taylor
Former Australian cricket legend Mark Taylor said that the job of cleansing the Australian cricket team after the infamous sandpaper gate scandal has been done and concluded by stating that there is no more a need for an absolute cricket coach within the Australian setup.
“(Now) there’s a movement maybe by the players, maybe by Cricket Australia themselves that (the) job has been done, and it might be time for more of a man manager and less of an absolute cricket coach and disciplinarian,” said Mark Taylor as quoted by News18.
Australia produced a sensational performance in the recently concluded Ashes series against England and decimated Joe Root and his men with the scoreline reading 4-0 in favour of the kangaroos. The Australian cricket team will next be seen in action on the cricket field when they take on Sri Lanka in a five-match T20I series. This series is scheduled to commence on 11th February 2022 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
