Best all-rounder- Sam Curran
Over the years, England has been producing a lot of good all-rounders and the latest of the lot is young- Sam Curran. The Northampton cricketer took the world in surprise in his very second Test outing against India at Birmingham. He scalped a four-wicket haul in the first innings and when it was his turn to take the guard with the bat in hand, made crucial 63 runs in the second innings, helping hosts get the 1-0 lead in the series.
In the following matches as well, the all-rounder contributed both with the bat and ball for his team. In fact, it was Curran who proved to be the difference between the two teams in that particular series. Overall, he played 7 Test matches in his debut year, scoring 404 runs and sharing 14 wickets. Taking these numbers into consideration and the effect his performance had on England’s Test team surely makes him the best all-rounder of the year.
