Cricket in 2018: Test, ODI & T20I Combined Best XI of the year
Pending all the quality performances from the year 2018, we try and churn out a competitive all-format XI.
6. Jos Buttler (wk) (England)
Jos Buttler is one of the best wicketkeeper-batsmen in the world at the moment. With invigorating wicket-keeping and batting technique, Buttler has been England’s first-choice keeper – especially in ODIs and T20Is with Bairstow donning the gloves in Tests.
His agile and athletic strength has helped his case in the field of wicket-keeping. Besides, he is as good a batsman as he is a keeper. Moreover, Buttler also has had the nerve of taking on a bowler even in situations as grim as Tests. This very trait makes him one of the most intimidating batsmen across all the formats.
The English wicketkeeper featured in 42 games this year and scored 1677 runs at a staggering average of 43.00. His tally also includes three centuries and 12 fifties. In addition to that, he has also effected 40 dismissals (ten stumpings and 30 catches) behind the stumps. Thus, with equal expertise in wicket-keeping and batting, Buttler will be the gloveman of this XI.
