Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif was one of the fittest and most athletic fielders in his playing days. It is not for nothing that he was more often than not placed at point, a region where he stopped countless boundaries and took a flurry of phenomenal grabs.

Speaking exclusively to CricTracker, the former batter touched on another dynamic fielder of the current Indian unit, Ravindra Jadeja. He was effusive in his praise for the left-handed all-rounder's abilities on the field as a fielder.

"India are the world champions. Let's talk about India. Ravindra Jadeja is evergreen. Because, he is becoming a better fielder with age. As you grow older, you tend to get slower but Jadeja is a prime example of someone who emphasises his fitness and keeps at it. His fielding has gotten better with age.

Kaif names favourite fielders from current Indian team

Kaif, who grabbed a whopping 406 catches during his playing days, is not impressed impressed merely with Jadeja. He even brought wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant's name to the fore.

"I would also talk about Rishabh Pant as a wicketkeeper. I haven't seen him dropping catches. Rishabh Pant and Jadeja (are the best fielders at the moment)," Kaif told CricTracker.

In addition to the 187 catches Pant has taken in his seven-year international career, he has also effected 94 stumpings.

Despite being on a long hiatus from cricket due to a life-threatening injury he endured, Pant looked fit as a fiddle in his recent outings in the red-ball format; be it during the Duleep Trophy or in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai.
