To qualify for the playoffs of the ongoing IPL, the Pat Cummins-led side needs to win either of their two matches but if they defeat both Gujarat and Punjab Kings, there’s a high possibility of them finishing in the top two, which would buy them another opportunity of making it to the summit clash.
Hyderabad would love to seize that opportunity and keeping that in mind, the team would aim to play their best cricket against GT. The opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have been phenomenal, to say the least, while Heinrich Klaasen started the season well but has lost his rhythm in the last few games. Nitish Reddy has been terrific and so are their bowlers. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been top-notch with the new ball while Cummins has been a game-changer for the team. Overall, there’s a very good opportunity for the team to pick up a comfortable win over the 2022 champions.
When it comes to GT, there hasn’t been too many positives for them this year. Hardik Pandya’s switch to Mumbai Indians has hurt them as the team currently stands eighth on the points table and are out of playoff contention. In their final game of the season, the Shubman Gill-led side should play a fearless brand of cricket, as it is the only they can challenge Hyderabad. The skipper himself and Sai Sudharsan have been the star performers with the bat but they need others to step up as well. Among bowlers, Mohit Sharma started well but has lost his touch in the last few matches.
