Women's T20 World Cup 2024
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is all that a cricket fan can talk about right now as the marquee event is all set to kick off on October 3, and it will be entirely held in the UAE. Originally, the tournament was supposed to be held in Bangladesh, but due to political unrest in the country, it was moved to the UAE.
The 10 teams will gear up to take on each other. Earlier, the sides will be split in two groups of five, meeting each other once in a round robin format. The top two teams from each group will progress through to the semi-finals. The top-spot finisher in the group will meet the second-placed finisher in the two semi-finals.
It is worth noting that after the warm-up matches of the tournament conclude on October 1, the season opener of the tournament will see Bangladesh women taking on Scotland women. Both sides will lock horns at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 3.
The first Women’s T20 World Cup was contested in 2009, and with Australia women as the defending champions, the women in yellow will aim to put in their best performances once more and hopefully defend their title.
However, with the likes of India, England, South Africa, and many more excellent sides participating, it will not be easy task for the defending champions. As the tournament begins on October 3, the fans are definitely in for a few weeks of cricket extravaganza.
