Women's T20 World Cup 2024 Squads

The eighth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup is all set to kick-start on February 10, 2023, in South Africa. Alongside the hosts, South Africa, nine other teams namely Australia, India, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Ireland, West Indies, and Bangladesh will be participating in the ten-team tournament, the final of which is scheduled to be played on February 26.

Australia is the most successful team in the tournament, having won the title a whopping five times. While England won the first-ever edition in 2009, West Indies won the 2016 edition of the global event. Ever since the inaugural edition, New Zealand’s Suzie Bates has the record for scoring the most runs in the tournament, having amassed 929 runs in 32 games. Interestingly, she has been a part of New Zealand’s setup since the tournament’s inception.

Even then, New Zealand never managed to finish as the champions. The Meg Lanning-led Australian side has been dominant in the tournament since 2009. Out of their five championship titles, Lanning led the Women in Yellow to four victories. Lanning has not just showcased brilliance in her leadership but also has been one of the leading run-scorers in the tournament’s history. Speaking of the bowling front, England’s Anya Shrubsole has the most wickets in the tournament and has 41 scalps from 27 matches.
