Rohit Sharma speaks
Rohit Sharma, India captain: If we look at how we played in the last three games, we played better in terms of adapting to the situation. We were put under pressure against England. In the last game as well, we lost a wicket in the first over but got to a good score and seamers came to the party. Today was not an easy pitch, you needed someone like Kohli, who batted to the situation. Not to forget Shreyas. It's important to let guys have freedom in the middle and what the team expects from them. You know it can't always be done but when it does it looks good and that's what happened with Shami. Same with Iyer, wasn't getting the runs but he's showed in the last two games the kind of class he has. Going hard in the first ten isn't something we've discussed. That's how Gill and I have batted together. We let our instincts take over. If the wicket is good, we keep going and things fall in place. Jadeja has been really good. Big matchwinner. He keeps doing the job, goes under the radar but today is a classic case of what he does - score late runs and take wickets. Not to get ahead of ourselves is something we are constantly talking about. When we turn up, we want to play to our potential.
Temba Bavuma speaks
Temba Bavuma, SA captain: We know the challenge, know the narrative around us while chasing. Didn't do it any justice today. When we talk about it as a batting group, gotta be honest. The first ten overs with the ball made it a challenge. We did do quite well after that. Biggest challenge was taking wickets and India built big stands. The conditions are the biggest learning. Wicket played as we suspected it to play - expected it to deteriorate but we didn't adapt well. It will be up to us to adapt our skills accordingly.
RECAP - Keshav Maharaj gets hit by karma
RECAP - The ever-excited Virat Kohli is thumping with joy after successful DRS call
There was an appeal for DRS, which Virat Kohli and two other players convinced the skipper Rohit Sharma to go upstairs for. As soon as the big screen showed the replay, it was pretty clear that ball was going to hit the stumps. And Virat Kohli, the birthday boy, was filled with energy (does he have any other mood?) to celebrate Heinrich Klaasen's dismissal, as Ravindra Jadeja got his second of the five wickets he took tonight. Kohli is surely a character.!!!

Virat Kohli speaks
Virat Kohli, Player Of The Match: It was a big game. Probably playing the toughest team in the tournament so far, there was motivation for doing well. People made it a bit more special on my birthday. I had a sense of it being something more. When the openers start in that fashion, you'd think it was a belter. Conditions change with the old ball. Message from the management was for me to bat deep, I was happy from that perspective. We knew we were above par when around 315. I enjoy playing cricket again which is more important now and that I'm able to contribute for the team all over again. Tendulkar's message is quite special. It's all too much to take in for now. It's a huge honour to equal my hero's record. He's perfection with the bat. It's an emotional moment. I know the days I come from, I know the days I have watched him on TV. To receive appreciation from him means a lot to me.
Virat Kohli - the birthday boy, is the Player of the Match
Virat Kohli has been adjudged the Player of the Match for his 101*(121 balls). That was really special.

India's domination has been quite evident as they soared to the summit of the points table, after decimating Sri Lanka by a staggering 302 runs. This emphatic triumph marked their seventh consecutive victory, making them the first team to secure a spot in the World Cup semi-finals.
At the same time, South Africa firmly placed at the second spot in the points table with a commanding tally of 12 points. Their batting prowess has been nothing short of extraordinary, laying waste to their rivals. The Proteas are poised to serve India their most formidable test on home turf. It's shaping up to be an absolute thriller, a cricketing showdown that promises fireworks.
A sensational performance by the Indian fast bowlers orchestrated Sri Lanka's downfall, restricting them to a paltry 55 runs. The Indian bowling unit has been a relentless force throughout the tournament, appearing nearly invincible at present. The inclusion of Mohammed Shami has further bolstered the pace arsenal. Shami's impact has been nothing short of astounding, amassing a staggering 14 wickets in just three matches, boasting an astonishing average of 6.71 and an economical 4.27.
South Africa pose as Cyclops with bat in its hand in front of Herculean Indian Bowling
Fresh from a resounding 190-run triumph over New Zealand in Pune, South Africa notched up their sixth victory. Merely one more win stands between them and a confirmed spot in the semi-finals. Nevertheless, their formidable net run rate of 2.290, coupled with their existing 12 points, means that even a loss in this upcoming match leaves them in a strong position to advance.
In this World Cup, South Africa's batters have been the architects of their dominance. In their seven matches, the Proteas have impressively breached the 300-run mark on five occasions. Leading this formidable charge is Quinton de Kock, the opener who has been on an extraordinary mission. De Kock is currently the tournament's top run-scorer, amassing a remarkable 545 runs in 7 innings at a stunning average of 77.85.
