England secure the first spot in the semi-finals, setting a formidable precedent for potential challengers in the knockout phase based on their dominant performance today. Three remaining spots remain up for contention in the race to the semi-finals, promising a couple of thrilling matches ahead (West Indies-South Africa and Australia-India). Until then, this concludes our coverage. Goodbye for now!

here's what player of the match, ADIL Rashid, said during the post-match presentation

"All the bowlers bowled extremely well and to restrict them to 115 was very pleasing. Always nice to keep it tight and get an early wicket which brings the new batter in. With the wind, you have to assess which end you're going to bowl. The googly's been coming out nicely too."

Here's what Jos buttler said DURING THE POST-MATCH PRESENTATION

"I thought if we could bring our intensity, we'd be too good. We've got great options. We wanted to bring Chris Jordan back, adds a bit of depth with his batting capabilities as well. A World Cup hat-trick is a great effort."

Here's what Aaron Jones said during the post-match presentation

"I guess you could say [we've run out of steam]. We've not had a good last two games. Something to look forward to for sure when we get back. But, we've really enjoyed this tournament. I think our shot selection wasn't the best. We knew he was the danger man but we still gave him some wickets."

Clinical all-round performance from England, USA gets knocked out

An out-and-out performance from England from all departments saw the Jos Buttler-led side romp a 10-wicket victory against the USA. Let's take a moment to appreciate the sheer spirit of the USA though. They can be mighty proud of their effort all-throughout, and have all the right to pack their bags with their heads held high.

Horror start for Ali Khan!!!

Shocking start from the right-arm quick. Sprays the ball miles down the on-side. Gous has no chance as the ball races off to the fence.

FALLBACK
Loading...

United States of America (USA) will take on England (ENG) in Match 49 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 23. The game is a do-or-die affair for both teams as England will look to keep their hopes alive and USA will aim to give themselves a minor chance with a win. USA have lost two out of as many games in the Super 8, whereas England have managed a sole victory in two games.

England will need to win the game with a substantial margin as they lack the required NRR compared to their closest Group 2 rivals, West Indies. The fact that England has conceded 90 runs against Scotland in the group stages without picking any wicket will haunt them before undermining USA. On the other hand, USA will garner some motivation with their historic win against Pakistan and would love to repeat the same against another champion team.

Kensington Oval has been a bit unlucky for both teams as they lost their previous games here by a hefty margin. But, the surface is a batter’s paradise and the blade wielders can aim for a big score after seeing through the early swing from the pacers. The spinners have very little to offer but can leverage on the bigger side of the boundary and shots that travel against the wind. There is ample cloud cover and chances of rain. Expect delays during the game.

Probable Predicted XIs

England (ENG):

Phil Salt, Jos Buttler (c) (wk), Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Reece Topley, Chris Jordan

United States of America (USA):

Steven Taylor, Andries Gous (WK), Nitish Kumar, Aaron Jones (C), Corey Anderson, Milind Kumar, Harmeet Singh, Nosthush Kenjinge, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Ali Khan, Saurabh Netravalkar.
