Courtesy of defeating MI Emirates (EMI) in their last league game, Dubai Capitals (DUB) have qualified for the playoffs of the inaugural season of the ILT20. On February 9, the two teams will once again face each other in the tournament, albeit, stakes will be way higher this time around. The losing team will bow out of the tournament, while the winners will make it to the second qualifier, which is slated to take place on February 10.

Coming to MI Emirates, the franchise decided to bench their skipper, Kieron Pollard, and Dwayne Bravo in the previous match, just to keep them ready for the business end of the tournament. In their absence, stand-in skipper, Nicholas Pooran, stepped in and played well but couldn’t deliver success in Emirates’ favour. When it comes to their bowlers, they will be tested as Dasun Shanaka and Sikandar Raza are in terrific form at the moment. Dwayne Bravo, their leading wicket-taker in the season will have to play really well once again in order to stop Dubai from pilling a lot of runs.

The Rovman Powell-led side meanwhile will back themselves to register their consecutive win over MI Emirates. Their form has been a matter of concern lately but playoffs are a different ball game altogether.
