Aakash Chopra decodes Sanju Samson’s problem, expects him to fire in Bangladesh T20Is
Samson played 30 T20Is, scoring 444 runs at an average of 19.30.
Ace cricketer Sanju Samson represented India in 30 T20Is and scored 444 runs at an average of 19.30. With Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill given rest for the Test series against New Zealand, the keeper-batter has got into the squad and captain Suryakumar Yadav confirmed that he will be opening the innings alongside Abhishek Sharma in the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior.
Speaking on the same, former cricketer Aakash Chopra stated that the Kerala-born is an incredible and mighty player and can be effective in the three-match series. However, he decoded that the 29-year-old’s aggressive approach often comes with a cost, and he fails to make a significant contribution. That is for the same reason, Samson is never regular in the Indian team.

“Since you have not picked Ruturaj Gaikwad, he was playing in the Irani (Cup), so only Sanju Samson is left. He has opened, he has played at No. 3, and we have even seen him bat down the order at No. 5 and No. 6,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“He is an incredible and mighty player. When he scores runs, he shows as if it's very easy to bat. However, his problem is that he goes for one too many shots. Then he gets out and you say - 'How did you do that Sanju, this was a chance and you let it go',” Chopra added.

With no more opener listed for the series, Samson is likely to play all three games and has a good opportunity to do well and seal his spot in the playing XI. Senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma recently announced their retirement from T20 internationals and it can be the best time for Samson to prove his value with consistent performances and secure his place.
