Sunrisers Hyderabad left-hander Abhishek Sharma has been in brilliant form with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. The young opener has scored 467 runs in just 13 matches at an average of 38.91 and an staggering strike rate of 209.41.

His batting has been one of the main reasons behind SRH's brilliant campaign, which saw them finish second in the league stage with eight wins from 14 matches. After SRH's crucial win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 19, captain Pat Cummins heaped praises on Abhishek's batting heroics. Chasing 215, Abhishek smashed 66 off just 28 balls to set up an easy four-wicket victory for the hosts.

Notably, SRH's batting lineup has been in exceptional form. The combination of Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Abdul Samad has been delivering consistently impressive performances.

"He (Abhishek) is amazing. I wouldn't want to bowl against him. He's scary. Nitish is a class player, looks mature beyond his age, he is perfect for the top order. Satisfying. I haven't played in finals before. Playing some really good cricket, excited for what's ahead," Cummins said at the post-match presentation.

We played great cricket and had some fun: Pat Cummins

Speaking about SRH's terrific campaign, Cummins said: "It's pretty cool, it's awesome. We have won 6 out of 7 here, it has been great. I didn't know many guys coming into this season, but we have played great cricket and had some fun."

With 467 runs already in the bank, Abhishek will be key to SRH's hopes of going all the way in the playoffs. They will play the Qualifier 1 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Ahmedabad on May 21 and Abhishek's form with the bat could prove to be the difference.
