Afghanistan Cricket Board appoint Milap Pradeepkumar Mewada as batting coach
Milap Pradeepkumar Mewada has joined the squad in Sri Lanka ahead of the three-match ODI Series.
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has officially announced the appointment of Milap Pradeepkumar Mewada as the batting coach for the national team. This decision comes ahead of the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023, setting the stage for a promising collaboration between Mewada and the Afghanistan squad.
Having been part of the team during the Bangladesh series, Mewada's exceptional coaching skills have earned him a full-time contract with the ACB. Afghanistan team is currently in Sri Lanka for an ODI series against Pakistan, and Mewada has already joined their ranks, making his debut as a full-time batting coach. His involvement will extend beyond the ongoing series, encompassing the much-awaited Asia Cup commencing on August 30th.
The ACB took to their official Twitter handle to confirm the addition of Milap to their coaching enrollment. With an extensive coaching background, Mewada brings a wealth of experience to the table. He has previously held the position of head coach for various state teams in India, including the Hyderabad Cricket Association, Chhattisgarh State Cricket Sangh, and Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association.
The seasoned coach's involvement also spans institutions like the VVS Sporting Academy and the Baroda Cricket Association, underscoring his versatile coaching prowess. With an impressive 32-year tenure, Mewada's expertise is poised to significantly contribute to Afghanistan's preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup.
As the national team undertakes a comprehensive conditioning camp in Sri Lanka, Milap Pradeepkumar Mewada's influence is already evident in their training routines. The team is gearing up for a high-voltage three-match ODI series against Pakistan, scheduled to commence on August 22 in Hambantota. These ODIs will serve as crucial preparation ahead of the much-anticipated Asia Cup.
