The three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and South Africa will begin on September 18 and all the matches will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. After an embarrassing defeat to West Indies in the three-match T20I series last month, South Africa will be gearing up to return back to winning ways. Meanwhile, the team management is already focusing on the ODI World Cup 2027 as multiple youngsters have been called up for the series.

Afghanistan, on the other hand, have named a strong unit. They are very well accustomed to the conditions of Sharjah, and that too might play a part in the series. The spinners are expected to dominate as Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Allah Ghazanfar will be vital for the team.

South Africa, meanwhile, will be missing the services of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Rassie van der Dussen and David Miller among a few others. Aiden Markram, Reeza Hendricks and captain Temba Bavuma will be key for the team with the bat while Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger will be important with the ball. The spin department however looks quite weak.
