Ambati Rayudu impressed with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli’s intent in T20 World Cup 2024
Virat Kohli has made five runs in two matches while Rohit has 65 runs to his name so far in T20 World Cup 2024.
Star India batter Virat Kohli has failed to live up to his potential in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. In two matches so far, the 35-year-old has scored just five runs, which doesn’t his records in the tournament's history. Despite so, former cricketer Ambati Rayudu liked Kohli’s intent so far. In India’s second match against Pakistan, the opener played a beautiful cover drive which went for a boundary but a couple of balls later, he was caught at point.
Rayudu believes that Kohli will return to form very soon and expects him to deliver. His opening partner Rohit Sharma meanwhile hit a half-century against Ireland and made 13 against Pakistan. He looked in very good touch and speaking about that, Rayudu mentioned that both Rohit and Virat play with the same intent, either one can win India matches one-sided.

“I don't think there's any need to change the combination right now. We saw a great cover drive and even on the ball that he (Kohli) got dismissed (against Pakistan), he had played a fine shot and just couldn't get the elevation to clear the fielder. The intent he showed was great and if both Virat and Rohit can bat with this intent, then the big days will come when either one of them or both will win India the game one-sided,” Rayudu said while speaking on Star Sports.
Virat’s big knock is just around the corner: Piyush Chawla
Piyush Chawla too noted that Virat has shown intent in the last two matches and will soon start scoring. He added that in T20 cricket, things don’t go your way all the time but Virat can come back as he is timing the ball well.

“Even in the two matches he (Kohli) got dismissed, look at his intent like Rayudu Bhai said. T20 is such a format that sometimes things just don't go your way. But even in those few balls that a batter plays, you understand the kind of form he is in. The way the ball is hitting the middle of his bat, it is clear that he is in form. He has made big runs in tougher conditions and I feel the big knock is just around the corner,” Chawla said.
