AUS vs ENG: Aaron Finch reprimanded for breaching ICC Code of Conduct
Aaron Finch admitted the offence which happened during the first T20I against England.
Australian skipper Aaron Finch has been handed an official reprimand after getting caught on the stump mic for using inappropriate language. The veteran batter was found to have breached Level 1 ICC Code of Conduct during the ninth over of the innings in the first T20I loss against England. The Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct describes the act offence as A“use of an audible obscenity during an International Match.”
Finch, who will lead the Australian side in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022, was handed one demerit point in his disciplinary record after he admitted the offence. The right-hander has led his troops quite well for a considerable period of time and it was visible in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup which Australia managed to win after beating New Zealand in the summit clash.
The 35-year-old has had a long patch of inconsistent scores which led to his recent retirement from the 50-over format. He continues to contribute in the T20I format while dropping down to the middle-order in recent times. It remains to be seen if he opens along David Warner in the T20 World Cup 2022.
Aaron Finch becomes fastest to reach 3000 T20I runs
Recently Finch made an outstanding achievement in the T20I format which speaks volumes of the level of consistency he has had in the past in the shorter formats. Despite not having a productive period in the last two to three years, Finch has still become the fastest to reach 3000 T20I runs in terms of balls and he managed to achieve the feat against England in the first T20I.
Meanwhile, Defending champions Australia start their campaign in the T2O World Cup 2022 on October 22 against New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Currently, they're hosting England for a three-match T20I series and are trailing by 0-1. After the conclusion of the series, Australia will play their only warm-up game against India before starting their campaign at the Super 12.
