Even though some of the key players are being subjected to miss the first two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, former India international, Dodda Ganesh is optimistic that Rohit Sharma and company will emerge victorious in the four-match series. As per the 49-year-old, the Pat Cummins-led side has no chance against India and will not win a single match in the upcoming series.

Notably, Australia have not won a single Test series against India in India since the 2004-05 season. Thus, this is definitely going to be a challenge for the side, especially when they have faced difficulties to handle spin in the past. Ganesh reckons that the Indian spinners can wreak havoc against Aussie batters and courtesy of which, the Indian team can win the series comfortably.

“I understand optimism, but to say Australia will win the series in India is a bit outlandish. The Oz have no chance against the quality of India’s spin trio. They’ll not win a Test. India winning 3-0 or 4-0 is the only thing that needs to be decided,” Ganesh tweeted on Monday.

Jayawardene picks Australia as favourites for Border-Gavaskar Trophy

Former Sri Lanka skipper, Mahela Jayawardene, believes that Australia is likely to win the upcoming Test series against India. He reckons that the Aussie batters can tackle the Indian bowlers and stated that the Pat Cummins-led side have a lethal bowling unit which can eventually put India under pressure.

“I think it's always going to be a great series. I think Indian conditions and how the Australian batsmen tackle that, they do have a really good bowling unit and how do the Indian batsmen tackle that. It depends on how each team starts the series and who's got that momentum. But it will be fascinating,” Mahela Jayawardene said in the latest edition of the ICC Review.

“It's difficult to predict, but being a Sri Lankan, I'm hoping that Australia can go all the way. Probably a 2-1 win for Australia, but it's going to be a tough one,” he added.
