BAN vs IND 2022: Mehidy Hasan Miraz breaks stumps twice in same over while bowling in second ODI
Both the deliveries by Mehidy Hasan were called as no-balls by the umpires.
Team India has locked horns with hosts Bangladesh in the second of the three-match ODI series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. During the Men in Blue batting innings, Bangladesh star all-rounder Mehidy Hasan broke the stumps twice in one over.
Bangladesh, who opted to bat first, scored a respectable total of 271 runs in their stipulated 50 overs. It was an interesting turn of events as the top-order had collapsed and Mehidy Hasan's sensational century off 83 balls coupled with Mahmudullah’s 77 runs off 96 balls propelled the side to score 271 runs.
In response, the Men in Blue too lost wickets early on in the innings but are still on the hunt to chase down the total. During the batting innings, in the 21st over of the contest, Mehidy Hasan broke off the stumps twice in the same over. Both the deliveries were adjudged as no-balls with Shreyas Iyer facing them both. Iyer scored one run off those two no-balls and scored a boundary off the free hit delivery that he faced.
India still in the hunt to chase the total
Speaking about the match, the Bangla Tigers had lost their first wicket in the initial couple of overs in the second 50-over contest. However, the vital partnership of Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan handed a major boost to the side to post a competitive total on the scoreboard.
In response, India skipper Rohit Sharma did not open the innings as he was injured while he attempted to take a catch in the slips while fielding. Though it may not be a serious one, commentators assumed on air that the captain might have split his webbing.
In any case, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan opened the batting innings and were dismissed rather swiftly. Shreyas Iyer has registered a half-century to his name while the chase is still on for the Men in Blue to get level in the three-match ODI series.
