The student protests in Bangladesh not only changed the government, it also brought a slew of changes in the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Nazmul Hassan, who was a close ally of former PM Sheikh Hasina against whom protests erupted, stepped down as BCB President as former Bangladesh skipper Farooque Ahmed was bestowed with the coveted position.

The developments proved to have a domino effect on several others who held administrative powers on the board and were ousted. In a fresh development, BCB Director, Naimur Rahman has resigned from his position. The BCB’s allegiance towards the Awami League Party, against whom the public went rogue, proved to be the reason for big names vacating their positions.

"I am resigning for personal reasons. I would like to thank BCB for giving me the opportunity to work in different positions during the past decade. I have thoroughly enjoyed working here and appreciate all of the opportunities the Board had given me as chairman of BCB' Cricket Operation and High Performance Unit," said Naimur as quoted by Cricbuzz

"I tried my level best to contribute as a former national captain for the development of cricket in Bangladesh. Apart from that I would also like to thank the councilors who elected me as their representative to the board. If BCB requires me in future I would love to work for Bangladesh cricket again," he added.

Farooque has been vocal about the change in winds after he was named as the President. He even narrowed down his focus on the Bangladesh team Head Coach, Chandika Hathurusingha, and publicly called for his removal.

Naimur had completed three terms as the director of BCB and ceded his fourth term in between with resignation. Apart from Naimur, Jalal Yunus and Shafiul Alam put in their resignation papers.
