The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) on Sunday, September 29, inaugurated the new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The venue has been built with the vision of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah in mind, and it is built to help nurture the future generations of the sport in India. The venue will now also be called the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

Furthermore, the facility spans over 40 acres; it will feature a total of three grounds and 86 pitches, which will feature both indoor and outdoor areas. It is also worth noting that at the heart of the centre will be three world-class cricket grounds.

The main ground, which is Ground A, has been boasting an 85-yard boundary with up to 13 red soil pitches available for play. Grounds B and C are put in mainly for practice with 75-yard boundaries. The grounds also feature 11 Mandya soil pitches and 9 Black Cotton soil pitches.

In case of rain, the subsurface drainage system is put in place, making for quick recovery after rainfall. Additionally, 45 outdoor net pitches are in place in the centre as well. Just beside the nets are the fielding practice area and up to six outdoor running tracks.

As for the indoor facilities, the amenities in place are the eight pitches with turfs from the UK and Australia. Furthermore, there is an 80-meter common run-up area present, alongside toughened glass panels that allow for natural light. In the indoor area, are also present the integrated cameras, which will capture the play for better analysis, ensuring that the players can complete their practice regardless of the time and weather.

The Centre for Excellence is all set to revolutionise young talent and development in the country. Furthermore, the inauguration of the centre is a testament to the BCCI’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of cricketers in the country.
