Yuvraj Singh advised India to play with an aggressive mindset against Australia during the impending Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The legendary all-rounder feels that India would be hurting after the 0-3 whitewash at home against New Zealand and they would want to prove a point against the world Test champions.

The five-match Test series begins at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Friday, November 22. Australia and India are placed at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. As the race to next year's WTC Final intensifies, both teams will want to register as many points as they can from the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

"They are under pressure after the 0-3 loss to New Zealand at home. That’s hurt them a lot. They want to prove a point in Australia and win there. That’s the mindset you need to have. You can’t go to Australia and have a mentality of drawing the series," Yuvraj said while speaking to Mid-Day.

Top guys have to fire; Jasprit Bumrah has to take wickets: Yuvraj Singh

The former India cricketer warned India, saying that Australia will look to dominate them. However, Yuvraj said that if the star players do well, and Jasprit Bumrah gets among the wickets, India will emerge victorious.

"They’re going to look to dominate you. It’s going to be hard to beat Australia. But you’ve done that twice in the past. So there’s no reason you can’t do it again. But for that, the top guys have to fire; Jasprit Bumrah has to take wickets. I back India to win, but we must remember that Australia will also be prepared," Yuvraj stated.

India will be missing the services of regular captain Rohit Sharma in the first Test as Bumrah will be filling his shoes and leading the Asian giants.
