The Board of Control for Cricket in India has formally handed over the set of new guidelines about disciplinary and travel guidelines for the Indian cricket team. All the players have been handed over the new SOPs with respect to accompanying family members, nets, travel, luggage allowances, etc.
As per previous reports, the recently-concluded third ODI of the series against England in Ahmedabad was when the players were informed by the BCCI about the set protocols as "non-negotiable". The news on the rules kicking in with immediate effect was confirmed today, as per Cricbuzz. It is being said that the touring manager for the Champions Trophy 2025, R. Devraj, has been entrusted with enforcing regulations.
According to the administrative body, the primary goal of the formulated directives was "to establish guidelines that promote discipline, unity, and a positive team environment while ensuring professional standards and operational efficiency during tours and series."
"There is no going back on this and the players have made aware that the BCCI is very serious about the SOPs. The BCCI is very strict about this rule," a team source in the know of the development told the same sports media outlet.
Notably, the 10-point guidelines came after India's harrowing loss to Australia in the 2024/25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. There was a spate of internal rows within the setup regarding team combination and reported disunity within the side, which is reckoned to be one of the main triggers for the BCCI to take prompt action.
