'Check if the coin is from the movie Sholay' - Suresh Raina on Rohit losing toss in ICC events
Suresh Raina makes a hilarious Bollywood reference as Rohit loses his 15th consecutive in international cricket.
The Champions Trophy final is currently going on, and once again, the luck was not on Rohit Sharma’s side as he will end this tournament without winning a single toss. Rohit has now lost 15 consecutive tosses in international cricket, which is the most for an India skipper right now.
The fans and experts are seeing the funny side of this unusual record and one of the experts who has commented on this hilarious record set by Rohit is former star batting all-rounder and 2013 Champions Trophy winner Suresh Raina. The 38-year-old has made a hilarious statement with a Bollywood reference, comparing the coin to the coin in a cult classic Hindi film ‘Sholay’ in which it was revealed that the coin had similar faces on both sides.
“Rohit Sharma should check if the coin is from the movie Sholay (smiles)", Raina said in reference to Rohit losing tosses in the ICC event.

12th consecutive toss lost by Rohit Sharma
There is no doubt that Rohit has done a tremendous job in the tournament as a skipper, but he has not shown that consistency with winning tosses. Rohit has lost 12 consecutive tosses in ODI cricket, which is not only the most by an India skipper but in overall One-day internationals as well which he shares with West Indies skipper Brian Lara.
From 2023 to 2025, India has lost 15 consecutive tosses in ODI cricket, which has broken the record of the 2022-23 season, where they had lost eight consecutive tosses in the format. Despite this, the Indian team still has a great record in this format and has won their last seven ODI matches which also includes a 3-0 win over the England team at home just before the Champions Trophy began. It is safe to say the luck with the coin has not carried on to the performances on the field.
