MS Dhoni smacked two sixes in his brilliant cameo of 13* off 4 balls to help CSK post 200/4 against PBKS.

MS Dhoni is being seen at his destructive best in the ongoing IPL 2023 as the Chennai Super Kings’ skipper has played several quick-fire knocks already. The ‘Captain Cool’ once again lit up the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai during CSK’s clash against Punjab Kings on Sunday, April 30.

Coming into bat in the final over of the innings, Dhoni played a brilliant cameo of 13* off 4 balls to help his side reach the 200-run mark after he opted to bat first upon winning the toss. CSK’s very own ‘Thala’ once again put his excellent finishing prowess on display as he smacked the last two balls of the innings for maximums against Sam Curran.

With his consecutive sixes, Dhoni took his tally of maximums hit in the 20th over in IPL history to 59. The legendary cricketer sits on top of the list and is way ahead of Kieron Pollard who sits on the second spot with 33 sixes to his name. Courtesy of Dhoni’s finishing touch, CSK posted a total of 200/4 in the first innings.

The CSK skipper has batted with a mind-boggling strike rate of 211.42 in the season so far with 74 runs to his name in six innings. Dhoni has clobbered two fours and eight gigantic sixes in IPL 2023 thus far.

Devon Conway gets closer to claiming Orange Cap with his 92*-run knock

Coming back to the match, after opting to bat first, CSK got off to a great start as their openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway added 86 runs for the first wicket off 58 balls.

Shivam Dube walked in at no 3 and added 44 runs off 26 balls with Conway and played a brilliant cameo of 28 off 17 balls. Conway went on to play a scintillating innings of 92* off 52 balls smashing 16 fours and a six in his innings.

With his knock, the Southpaw has climbed to the second spot in the IPL 2023 orange cap of the ongoing season with 414 runs to his name in nine innings at an average of 59.14 and a strike rate of 144.25.
