CWC 2023: Mohammad Rizwan's comical 'bowled' dismissal during ENG vs PAK clash leaves internet in splits
Mohammad Rizwan was cleaned up by Moeen Ali as he walked out of his crease in the 23rd over.
Pakistan were hammered by 93 runs in their last match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against England on Saturday, November 11 at Eden Gardens Kolkata. After opting to bat first, England posted a massive score of 337/9 in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, the Babar Azam-led were bundled out for just 244 as Agha Salman was the only batter to cross the 50-run mark.
The entire Pakistan batting fell like a house of cards in front of the England bowling attack. However, the funniest dismissal of all was of Mohammad Rizwan. Batting on 36, the Pakistan wicketkeeper batter used his feet against Moeen Ali in the 23rd over. However, he ended up missing the ball altogether as it turned and crashed into his stumps. Upon being dismissed, Rizwan fell on the pitch due to a cramp and the team physio came running in to see him.

Notably, Pakistan needed to chase down the target in just 6.3 overs to qualify for the semi-finals. The task was almost impossible by cricketing logic hence the Babar Azam-led side must’ve thought about finishing their campaign with a win. However, they still got off to a horrible start losing their opener Abdullah Shafique (0 off 2) on just the second ball of the innings who was trapped in front of the stumps by David Willey.

To make matters worse, his opening partner and last match’s centurion Fakhar Zaman (1 off 9) also departed cheaply getting holed out to mid-off to against Willey. Captain Babar Azam tried to stabilize the innings with his knock of 38 (45) but failed to get going as he hit one straight to mid-wicket.

As a result, the entire Pakistan batting began collapsing and were reduced to 191/9. A 53-run stand between Haris Rauf (35 off 23) and Mohammad Wasim Jr (16 off 14) somehow helped their side cross the 200-run mark as they were finally bundled out for 244.
