CWC 2023: Fans cry foul play after Rassie van der Dussen's controversial DRS dismissal during PAK vs SA clash
Rassie van der Dussen was adjudged lbw against Usama Mir.
The Match 26 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 between Pakistan and South Africa landed in controversy as Rassie Van der Dussen was adjudged lbw after a questionable review. On the fifth ball of the 19th over bowled by Usama Mir, Van der Dussen was hit on his pads as the entire Pakistan team went up for appeal. On field umpire Paul Reifel raised his finger to signal the South African batter out.
Unhappy with the decision, Van der Dussen immediately reviewed it and the ultra edge found no bat contact of the ball. However, due to some bug, the ball tracking loaded automatically and the ball was shown missing the stumps. But a few seconds later, the ball tracking was used again and on this occasion, the hitting came as ‘umpire’s call’ which led to Van der Dussen being declared out.
The incident hasn’t gone down well with the fans who are accusing the authorities of foul play in the DRS system and changing the decision on their whims.
