India are on the verge of losing their first T20I series against West Indies after six years as they find themselves 0-2 behind in the ongoing five-match series. Following the loss in the second game, Hardik Pandya became the first Indian captain to lose two consecutive T20Is against the Windies since 2016. The Men in Blue will have the last chance to make a comeback as they lock horns in the third game on Tuesday, August 08 at Providence Stadium, Guyana.

One of the biggest concerns for India so far in the series has been their batting as they could barely score over 150 in the first two games. One of the weakest links in the Indian batting order has been Sanju Samson who’s playing as a specialist batter in the eleven. However, the 28-year-old has failed to grab chances and could only score 19 runs in the first two matches.

Commenting on Samson’s performance, former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria bashed him for not making full use of the opportunities.

"India rested Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli so that they could give others a chance, as many have complained that a few players haven't had enough opportunities. Now that India have played them, when are you going to score runs, Sanju Samson? He has had enough chances now. I was among the people who supported him and wanted him to get consistent opportunities. However, he hasn't made the most of these chances," Kaneria said on his Youtube Channel.

India have the last chance to make a comeback in third T20I

Making his comeback in the team after almost eight months, Samson got dismissed for 9 (38) in the second ODI but later scored a brilliant half-century (51 off 41) in the third ODI. He further registered scores of 12 (12) and 7 (7) in the first two T20Is as Indian batting failed miserably.

The 28-year-old has a great opportunity to seal his place in the team in the absence of Rishabh Pant. However, he’s been squandering his chances much to the frustration of his fans. The Trivandrum-born cricketer will be desperate for a big knock in the third game as India look to make a comeback in the series.
