Danni Wyatt-Hodge moves to WPL franchise RCB Women from UP Warriorz
A strategic move made by RCB Women ahead of the next Women's Premier League season.
The explosive opener of England Women, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, will now represent the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) of the coveted Women's Premier League (WPL) in the next season. Notably, Wyatt-Hodge was traded by RCB from UP Warriorz Women (UP-W) in what was majorly a cash deal.
During WPL 2024 auctions, the English batter was signed for INR 30 lakhs. However, the 33-year-old did not get any game time with the UP-based team, who finished in the fourth spot in last year's event. Furthermore, it was revealed she was traded without incurring any extra fees during the transaction conducted between the two popular franchises. Hence, it is interesting to note that she is yet to make her much-awaited debut in the WPL.
In terms of her overall experience in the international arena, Danni Wyatt-Hodge has played in a whopping 164 matches in the T20Is, whereby, she has scored close to 3,000 runs (2,979) with 16 fifties and two sensational centuries to her name. Moreover, during these games, she maintained a decent strike rate of 127.85.
Meanwhile, speaking on the latest development and welcoming Wyatt-Hodge to the RCB family, Captain Smriti Mandhana said that the English batter was a complete game changer along with being an incredible athlete. Hence she backed her inclusion by adding that her skills will surely serve well for RCB Women's vision in the days ahead to come.
"Danielle is a game-changer and a phenomenal athlete," captain Smriti Mandhana said in RCB's statement. "Her skills and competitive spirit align perfectly with our team's vision. We are excited to welcome her to the RCB and look forward to the energy she will bring to the squad," Mandhana was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
RCB would be cool, I’d like to play for them: Danni Wyatt
Interestingly, back in 2020, Danni Wyatt-Hodge had some funny banters with India's legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal, she was asked to pick her favourite Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise. With an unflinching reply, Danni-Wyatt Hodge replied by saying that even though she would not mind joining any team if given a chance in India's biggest cricket carnival, she would want to play for RCB. Moreover, she cited the reason that all the star players like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, and AB de Villiers along with Chahal, play for the big franchise and she would want to be part of them.

"I don’t mind any team, really. But I support Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) because they have/had Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, Moeen Ali, Yuzvendra Chahal, and AB de Villiers. So, RCB would be cool, I’d like to play for them," Wyatt was quoted as saying by Cricket.com.
