Deepak Chahar's father Lokendra Singh Chahar suffers brain stroke, admitted to a hospital in Aligarh

India all-rounder Deepak Chahar’s father Lokendra Singh Chahar suffered a brain stroke and has been admitted to Mithraj Hospital in Aligarh. Notably, Chahar didn’t play the fifth T20I of the series against Australia on Sunday, December 03 in Bengaluru as captain Suryakumar Yadav revealed that he had flown back home due to a family emergency.

According to reports, Lokendra had visited Aligarh to attend a wedding function where he suffered the stroke. The report further states that Deepak Chahar got to know about his father’s ill health on December 02 and immediately flew from Bengaluru to Delhi and travelled via road to Aligarh.

A report in Dainik Jagran states that there hasn’t been much improvement in Lokendra’s health and the family to planning to shift him to Delhi or Agra. Notably, Chahar’s father is a diabetic patient and also suffers from hypertension. His condition is currently critical and he's undergoing treatment in the ICU.

Meanwhile, Chahar just played in the fourth T20I of the recent series vs Australia where he scored a 0(2) and picked up 2/44 in four overs. The right-arm seamer dismissed Tim David and Matthew Short who were threatening to take the game away from India and set up a 20-run win for his side which also helped them to clinch the series by 3-1.

Deepak Chahar made a comeback to international cricket after one year

Notably, the Agra-born cricketer made a comeback in international cricket after almost a year as he last played for India in the 2nd ODI vs Bangladesh on 7th December 2022. The right-arm seamer made a comeback to professional cricket during IPL 2023. However, he unfortunately picked up a hamstring injury while playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) during the season and missed six matches during the season.

The 31-year-old has played 13 ODIs and 25 T20Is in his career so far having made his international debut in July 2018. Chahar has 16 wickets to his name in ODIs and 31 wickets in T20Is. He has also scored two half-centuries in his ODI career one of which came in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka on July 20, 2021, where he helped India win the series with his knock of 69* (82).
