Star India batter Virat Kohli will be a key component for the Indian team in the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is slated to begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad. In the last one year, India played two major tournaments in the form of the Asia Cup and the T20I World Cup with Kohli playing some remarkable cricket in both the tournaments and finishing as the leading run-scorer of India. He has delivered under pressure in the past and is expected to repeat the same in the upcoming global tournament.

Meanwhile, speaking about his rise as a player, his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers stated that Kohli picks things from his coaches and teammates in order to get better. The former South Africa skipper added that Mark Boucher played a crucial role in shaping Kohli when he was young and mentioned that he can’t wait to see him do special things in the ODI World Cup.

“I think everyone matures with age. As you grow, you learn a lot from experienced players and you realize that they're not just your opponents but calm and relaxed individuals. Virat is smart and he has picked things from some coaches as well as teammates.

Mark Boucher had a crucial role to play at RCB when Virat was young and hopefully, I too had a good influence on him as a friend. He has found that right balance and I can't wait to see him in the World Cup doing special things for Team India,” AB de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, Kohli is yet to show his class in the ongoing Asia Cup. He got out to Shaheen Shah Afridi in the match against Pakistan and didn’t get a chance to bat against Nepal. India will once again take on Pakistan in the Super 4 of the competition and that is the ideal opportunity for him to step and deliver, just like he did in the last edition of the T20I World Cup.
