England women’s batter Emily Windsor has become the first female cricketer to play 100 matches for Hampshire. Her 100th game was a special one as she scored an unbeaten 69 in the first of the two final County Championship group games. Her knock also helped Hampshire jump atop their group.

Currently in group five of the women’s county T20, Hampshire find themselves in first place with 16 points in six matches. They are closely followed by Sussex, who have 14 points in six matches, with Berkshire CCC and Bucks Cricket in third and fourth place with eight and two points, respectively.

Topping the group, Hampshire will now head to the County Championship finals day in Hove on Sunday, May 14. Windsor has always had the full support of Hampshire as she joined them when she was just nine years old. Making her debut in 2013, she captained the side for the first time in 2021. With the County Championship finals scheduled for May 14, the group five matches would be played at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove.

Furthermore, Windsor also represents the Southern Vipers, who are the current domestic T20 champions. Being one of the best players in the side, the 25-year-old scored a brilliant 288 runs at the 50-over Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. She maintained such a record despite returning from a recent hip injury.

In honour of completing 100 matches for Hampshire, Windsor was also gifted a special jersey with the number 100 on the back, marking her achievement. She came forward to reflect on her experience.

"It’s a great honour to become the first women’s player to reach 100 caps for Hampshire. This is a club I have supported and loved playing for since I was nine-years-old. Never did I think I would play for the first team this many times. To also now have the privilege to captain the side is a dream come true," Windsor was quoted as saying by The News.
