[Exclusive] 'If I can be even 1% helpful, that would be great' - Dhawal Kulkarni opens up on prospect of coaching
"Even when I announced my retirement, I mentioned that I want to give something back to the game," Kulkarni said.
Dhawal Kulkarni said that he isn't interested in starting his coaching career immediately as he has just retired from domestic cricket. However, he asserted that he will relish opportunities to give back to the game in the future.
After having a stellar career for Mumbai in domestic cricket and also earning caps for India in the two white-ball formats, Kulkarni bid farewell to the game in March. He helped Mumbai win a record-extending 42nd Ranji Trophy title as the Ajinkya Rahane-led side defeated Vidarbha in the finals. Kulkarni took the final wicket to fall in the summit clash to finish off on a high.
The right-arm pacer is currently playing for India Capitals in the ongoing Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2024. On the sidelines of the franchise tournament, Kulkarni gave an exclusive interview to CricTracker and spoke about his coaching aspirations.
"Right now, there are no such plans as I’ve just retired from IPL. However, if I get an opportunity from any franchise in the future, I would definitely love to share my cricketing experience with them. Even when I announced my retirement, I mentioned that I want to give something back to the game. So, if I can be even 1% helpful in someone’s career, that would be a great achievement for me," Kulkarni stated.

How has Dhawal Kulkarni fared in LLC 2024?
Kulkarni has been one of the best bowlers on show during the six-team tournament. The 35-year-old has helped his team reach the playoffs where they will play the Eliminator against Toyam Hyderabad in Srinagar on Sunday, October 13.

Speaking about Kulkarni's performance in the competition, the speedster has accounted for eight wickets in four games at an average of 12.62 and a strike rate of 12. His economy rate is an impressive 6.31. He has picked up crucial wickets with the new ball and also done well in the death overs.
