Mumbai secured a spot in the Ranji Trophy 2024 final after defeating Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs in the second semifinal at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC in Mumbai. This marks Mumbai's record 48th qualification for the Ranji Trophy final, the highest by any team in India's premier domestic competition.
Mumbai are awaiting the winner between Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha in the final showdown, set to commence on March 10 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The historic venue, which has hosted the Ranji Trophy final 10 times before, witnessed Mumbai's last final appearance during the 2012-13 season against Saurashtra.
Tamil Nadu chose to bat first but managed to accumulate only 146 runs, as Tushar Deshpande claimed a three-wicket haul. Mumbai, in response, were struggling at 106/7, however, Shardul Thakur orchestrated a remarkable turnaround with a stunning 109-run knock off just 104 deliveries and helped his side score 378 runs.
Meanwhile, R Sai Kishore, Tamil Nadu's captain, shone with an impressive six-wicket haul. Mumbai bowlers then delivered another exceptional performance in the third innings, restricting Tamil Nadu to just 162 runs, securing a commanding victory by a substantial margin.

Mumbai beat Saurashtra at Wankhede in the Ranji Trophy 2012-13 final
Mumbai displayed dominance at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai when they faced off Saurashtra in the final of the Ranji Trophy 2012-13 season. Led by former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar, the Mumbai side boasted a star-studded lineup featuring Sachin Tendulkar, Wasim Jaffer, Abhishek Nayar, and Dhawal Kulkarni.

The final witnessed Mumbai's authoritative performance as they restricted Saurashtra to 148 and 82 in the two innings. Despite Tendulkar's dismissal for 22, Jaffer's magnificent ton propelled Mumbai to 355, clinching victory by an innings and 125 runs. Kulkarni emerged as the standout performer, claiming nine wickets in the match, including a fifer in the second innings. Skipper Agarkar contributed with a five-wicket haul in the match.
