'We will follow ICC directives' - BCCI confirms India to have Champions Trophy logo on jersey
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys," ICC had earlier stated regarding the situation.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has put to rest an ongoing controversy regarding the Indian men's team’s jersey for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. Sticking to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) regulations, the Indian jersey will feature the tournament’s official logo, which includes the name of the host nation, Pakistan.
The ICC has consistently emphasized the importance of uniform obedience with its tournament protocols. As per ICC guidelines, all participating teams must feature the official tournament logo, including the host nation’s name, on their jerseys.
While India’s matches are scheduled to take place in Dubai due to security concerns, Pakistan still remains the official host for the prestigious event, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed India to follow ICC guidelines.
"We will follow whatever are the ICC guidelines. We will follow the ICC directive," Saikia said as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Indian team last visited Pakistan for a cricketing event in 2008
Meanwhile, the ICC had earlier responded to this growing issue of India rejecting host nation's name on team jersey. The global body expressed that each team should follow the guidelines shared.
"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," an ICC official said as per A-Sports.

Despite this major development, there are still uncertainties regarding Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s attendance at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Karachi. The political issues have influenced cricketing relations between India and Pakistan. The Indian team last visited Pakistan for a cricketing event in 2008, and bilateral ties have remained strained.
“This includes Rohit or any other Indian team player or official or board official. This is in line with the usual protocols and since the opening match is on the 19th the opening ceremony can be expected either on the 16th or 17th," a source said earlier.
