Going to Australia, India needs at least three pacers and one backup fast bowler: Nikhil Chopra
Team India is set to host Australia for a T20I series.
After having a disappointing outing in the 2022 Asia Cup, India is set to face Australia and South Africa before the 2022 T20 World Cup, scheduled to be played in October-November down under.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian team management will need to chalk out the plans for both batting and bowling departments before reaching down under to participate in the all-important T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, former India player Nikhil Chopra has given his views on team India's bowling combination for the T20 World Cup. Chopra reckoned that the Men in Blue will need to play an extra pacer which was not the case during the Asia Cup.
I think India experimented with their bowling line-up during the Asia Cup: Nikhil Chopra
"I think the way team India experimented during the Asia Cup where they played three spinners and two pacers are going to change. I think going to Australia, you need to play three pacers and of course, a backup pacer will be Hardik Pandya and two spinners might play as well," said Chopra while speaking on BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker/.
Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on September 8 (Thursday) announced the warm-up fixtures for all 16 teams ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. India will face Australia and New Zealand in the T20 World Cup Warm-Up matches. First Round teams will commence their preparations in Melbourne, with matches split between the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Junction Oval from 10-13 October.
Before that, the Men in Blue will take on the Australia and South Africa in a limited-overs series. Under the leadership of skipper Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue will want to win both bilateral series before making their way to Australia for playing the T20 World Cup.
