Shikhar Dhawan is set to lead the ODI squad against New Zealand.
Veteran left-hander Shikhar Dhawan is all set to lead team India as the side locks horns with hosts New Zealand in a three-match ODI series commencing on November 25. After successfully clinching the T20I series played under Hardik Pandya, Dhawan, who will now be leading the side in the 50-over format, has highlighted the preparations ahead of the ODI series.
Shikhar Dhawan has taken over the captaincy role after Rohit Sharma requested the management to drop him from the squad for rest. Furthermore, the stand-in skipper stated that he wants the side to play ‘good cricket’ ahead of the ODI series against the antipodean nation.
"We are looking to play good cricket and win the series. It's good exposure for young boys to come and play in New Zealand. Test their skills and character in different conditions. It's been a bit rainy as well so the ball has been moving. It's a good opportunity for us to show our skills,” Dhawan told in a pre-match press conference.
