The eighth-placed Mumbai Indians (MI) will host second-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the twentieth match of the Indian Premier League 2025 season. This match will mark the start of a cycle for RCB where they will alternate between playing at home and away.

Both teams lost their previous matches. Mumbai went down to Lucknow in their backyard. Mitchell Marsh went hammer and tongs in the powerplay, but the Hardik Pandya-led MI back into the game during the middle overs. Aiden Markram, Ayush Badoni, and David Miller made full use of the platform to take LSG to a high total. Pandya completed his five-wicket haul in the last over.

MI's chase ran into trouble with early wickets, but Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir built an important partnership. The biggest story of the chase, however, came when Tilak Varma struggled to keep up with the required rate and was eventually retired out. Pandya kept hopes alive, but there was too much left to do in the end.

RCB too fell rather emphatically to GT at home. Mohammed Siraj wrecked his former side on an uncharacteristically slow Bengaluru track. Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Tim David mounted a good fightback, but the total looked inadequate at half-time. GT started slow, but Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford went hammer and tongs, building on Sai Sudharsan's start.

Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Player Battles in Match 20 of IPL 2025:

1. Virat Kohli vs Trent Boult

Rather ironically, pacer Boult dismissed Virat Kohli on the first ball of an IPL match in 2023. It remains the only time the Kiwi southpaw has dismissed RCB's talismanic batter in the IPL. Otherwise, Kohli has scored 74 runs from 63 balls at a strike rate of 117.46 against Boult.

2. Rohit Sharma vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar

MI's former captain is currently woefully out of form, and he will be up against one of the most dangerous powerplay bowlers in IPL history—especially if he comes out to open the innings. So far in the IPL, Rohit Sharma has been dismissed by Bhuvneshwar just once while scoring 85 runs from 64 balls at a strike rate of 132.81.
