Noted cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has shared his views on Bollywood movie 'Ghoomer', directed by notable director R Balki. The movie, which has Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher in lead roles, will be in theaters from August 18, Friday. Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi have also played two prominent roles in the movies.
The film narrates the story of a female cricketer, played by Saiyami, who loses her arm in an accident and still aims to be back in the Indian national cricket team. Meanwhile, Abhishek, who has played the role of the cricket coach, has his life turned upsdie down after meeting the paraplegic player.
In a video shared by the YouTube channel of Hope Productions, the producers of Ghoomer, Bhogle said that he went to watch the movie with excitement and worry. He was then full of praise for Abhishek and Saiyami's performance in the movie.
“I went to see a movie recently and I went with a combination of excitement and unease. It's not just Saiyami - who is a proper cricketer. She's an actor, but she's also a proper cricketer. So there was never going to be any doubt about that," he said.
“Then there was Abhishek Bachchan. I think he lives the role of the coach. Sometimes you can have a coach who's trying to motivate a player, whether it's the hard way or the soft way, but sometimes the lines can appear a little straight out of a motivational lecture. I love the way Abhishek married the two into his character. I could recognize a couple of cricketers within the character that Abhishek plays, but I'll leave it for you to decide. But needless to say, he is outstanding, especially in the first half," Bhogle said.
Was intrigued by a cricket film #GhoomerInCinemas which had people I knew @SaiyamiKher @Imangadbedi @juniorbachchan and made by Balki. Particularly by how they would do the cricket parts. Some thoughts on the film #Ghoomer pic.twitter.com/bXjlOxHapU

Saiyami took inspiration from Yuvraj's cancer battle for her role
Saiyami, who is playing the central character in 'Ghoomer', revealed that he took inspiration from legendary all-rounder Yuvraj Singh's cancer battle for her role. The 31-year-old actress stated that she met the cricketer while preparing the movie.
