'He explained Dhoni about team composition' - Virat Kohli shares hilarious on-flight incident post England 2014 tour
Kohli’s low returns on England tour in 2014 raised questions about his place in the team.
England is considered one of the toughest places to tour for India as they have failed to win a Test series in the country in the past 16 years. In 2014, team India had another forgettable tour of England as it lost the five-match series 1-3. The series is also remembered for India’s premier batter Virat Kohli’s dismal run as he scored just 134 runs in 10 innings.
Kohli’s low returns raised questions about his place in the team with fans asking for him to be dropped immediately. However, team India made a remarkable comeback in the ODI series beating England 3-1. But the fans were still unhappy with the result of the Test series.
Now, Virat Kohli has shared an incident where a fan schooled the Indian team on cricketing skills on a flight after India’s dismal performance in England. Kohli revealed that the person went straight to MS Dhoni to share some tips and demanded a hundred from him.
Talking on the latest episode of RCB Podcast season 2, Kohli revealed the hilarious interaction with the passenger and said, “The man first headed to Mahi (MS Dhoni) and started talking about how the team composition should be and MS ignored it efficiently. He then shifted his focus to me and asked me what exactly is going on with my bat.”

Kohli further continued, explaining how he faced the passenger’s sudden outburst, “The man said that he wanted a hundred from me in the next game. I was young back then and that kind of flicked the switch and I invited him for a conversation. I asked him where he works and he mentioned some company. Then I asked him about his designation and he mentioned that he was some kind of manager. I then replied saying in the next three years, I want you to be the chairman of the company.”
Kohli’s statement hit the fan hard and he quickly realised that playing cricket at the international level is not child’s play. The star India batter further disclosed that seeing the passenger being relentless the entire team India began shouting ‘Coach-Coach’ together which embarrassed the fan making him return to his seat.
