Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has turned out to be a trump card for the Indian team at the T20 World Cup 2024 as the spinner has delivered for the team when it mattered the most. He did not make it to the playing XI during India’s games in New York but was soon inducted into the Playing XI when the team stepped onto Caribbean shores. He immediately made an impact and as it stands out, the spinner has picked 10 wickets in just four games at an average of 18.60.

Kuldeep was effective when India were defending the target 171 against England in the semifinal. He picked three wickets and complimented Axar Patel well. Ahead of the T20 World Cup final against South Africa, Kuldeep’s childhood coach, Kapil Dev Pandey has termed the 29-year-old as the backbone of the Indian team. He also showed faith in India lifting the coveted trophy on Saturday.

“India is performing exceptionally well, and they have reached the final of the T20 World Cup after beating every team… This is the best Indian T20I team to reach the final and I firmly believe that this team will bring back the glory of 2007 T20 WC and end the drought of 17 years,” said Pandey as quoted by News18.

“Obviously, he (Kuldeep) is the backbone of the Indian team. He got the chance in the last four matches and has been performing very well. We all know what sort of player he is, and I feel really proud to see him delivering for the country,” he added.

Unbeaten finalists battle it out in Barbados

Talking about the finalists, both India and South Africa have been unbeaten in the tournament so far. This will be the first instance in the history of T20 World Cups that a team will become champion by remaining unbeaten.
