India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a force to reckon with in Test cricket. In his debut match against West Indies, the youngster smacked 171 runs at Roseau and recently, in the series against England, the left-hander wreaked havoc, scoring 712 runs in nine innings. He has been phenomenal at the top of the order for the Rohit Sharma-led side but his real test will be in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, when he will play red-ball cricket in Australia for the first time.

Even though he doesn’t have enough experience at the moment, legendary spinner Nathan Lyon understands the damage he can do if he gets into the groove. The veteran mentioned that he watched Jaiswal closely during the series against England and later had a chat with Tom Hartley about the different ways they went about business in that series. Lyon has gathered intel on how to bowl against him and other cricketers but regardless, he is particularly keeping a close eye on Jaiswal.

“I haven’t come across him (Jaiswal) yet, but that will be a massive challenge for all us bowlers. The way he played against England, I watched that quite closely and thought that was quite amazing,” Lyon was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

“I had some really good chats with Tom Hartley about different ways he went about it to different guys which I found quite interesting. I love talking about cricket, so if I can talk to someone who has played Test cricket I might be able to pick up something I’m not aware of. There’s so much knowledge floating around this game that we can always tap into,” Lyon concluded.
