Pakistan look to improve following subpar showings in upcoming ODI World Cup fixtures

Speaking of Pakistan, the Men in Green are currently competing at the ODI World Cup 2023, and it is safe to say that the side have been unable to put their foot on the pedal completely. Having played five games in the tournament so far, the Babar Azam-led side has only managed to win two.

Their latest clash at the tournament was against Afghanistan, both sides faced each other in the 22nd game of the competition. Batting first, Pakistan got off to a good start to the game as Abdullah Shafique opened the innings with a knock of 58 runs. Furthermore, Babar Azam scored 74 runs in 92 balls, and with Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed adding 40 runs each to the board, Pakistan managed to post a total of 282 runs on the board.

Aiming to defend the target, the Men in Green failed to perform with the ball. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran’s brilliant knocks helped Afghanistan chase down the target and win the game by eight wickets.
