The ODI World Cup 2023 is gearing up for one of its most anticipated matches, as team India is all set to take on the Pat Cummins-led Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.

However, as the game approaches, the possibility of an injury is looming over the players. Especially Australia, as the side had many players returning from injury ahead of the marquee event, and a similar case was brought up when ace spinner Adam Zampa injured himself.

Appearing in the nets with a cut on his nose, many came forward to discuss whether Zampa would be available for Australia against India. However, skipper Pat Cummins took center stage to shed more light on the situation.

“He swam into the pool wall apparently. He had his eyes closed and thought he was swimming in a straight line and swam straight into the step of the pool. He’s all good, just a little bit sore, so had a pretty quiet week too,” Pat Cummins was quoted as saying by OneCricket.

Marcus Stoinis still in doubt for India clash

Apart from Zampa, ace all-rounder Marcus Stoinis is a doubt for the clash against India as well. Stoinis sustained an injury to his hamstring and it is unclear whether he will take the field when Australia take on India.

Speaking about Stoinis, Cummins has urged the fans to wait and watch as they are still assessing whether the all-rounder will be fit to face India. Both sides kick off their World Cup campaign by taking on each other in Chennai.

Australia will be coming into the game on the back of a three-match series loss against India. The side succumbed to a loss in the first two games but managed to clinch the final third ODI. Led by Pat Cummins, Australia will look for a dominating show and get off to a positive start to the World Cup.
