‘How often do you get the opportunity to put Virat Kohli in your pocket?’ - Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine backs his bowlers ahead of India clash

Right before the game against Bangladesh in the Super 12 of the T20 World Cup, charismatic middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav became the number one T20I-ranked batter in the world as per the ICC rankings while former India captain Virat Kohli surpassed Mahela Jayawardene during the game to become the highest run-scorer in the history of the tournament.

The duo is in terrific form at the moment and especially Kohli, who has scored 220 runs in just four matches in the eighth edition of the tournament.

Now, despite Kohli and Suryakumar being in terrific form, Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine is confident that his bowlers will turn up and deliver results in the big match. Also, in case they manage to upset India by a huge margin, the Chevrons may even qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.

However, they would still have to wait for other results to go in their favour. No matter, what the situation is, the captain is backing his bowlers to do their best.

“Definitely (they are ready). This is a great opportunity to bowl against some of the best guys in the world. So, there’s no reason why guys would not want to get out there and produce the goods. How often do you get the opportunity to put Virat Kohli in your pocket? So, I’m pretty sure that our fast bowlers will be raring to go come tomorrow,” said Ervine in the press conference before the match against India.

We don’t have any plans against Virat, special players can adapt to any conditions: Ervine

The 34-year-old Virat has been in tremendous form in the ongoing multi-nation tournament in Australia. The top-order batter single-handedly won the game against Pakistan and also played a crucial role in India’s victory over Bangladesh. Despite that, the Zimbabwe captain doesn’t have a significant plan against the player as he believes that the ‘King’ of Indian cricket has the ability to adapt to any conditions.

“I don’t think we have any plans for Virat. I think he’s just too good of a player. I don’t think special plans really work against these guys cause they are so good at adapting to different conditions and different situations,” the 37-year-old added in the press conference.
