Former India head coach Greg Chappell extended his wishes to Rahul Dravid following India's recent T20 World Cup victory. This victory marks a significant milestone for Indian cricket, ending an 11-year drought for an ICC title and providing a perfect farewell for Dravid's coaching tenure.

The relationship between Dravid and the Caribbean islands has been complex. While he excelled as a player in Test matches there, the 2007 ODI World Cup under his captaincy saw India's early exit. However, the recent T20 World Cup victory in Barbados has rewritten this narrative, offering a redemption in Dravid's Caribbean story.

It is a wonderful way for him to finish his time with the team: Greg Chappell

On June 29, the Menin Blue lifted their second T20 World Cup title in Barbados. This victory was particularly special as it coincided with the end of Dravid's coaching stint, which he had announced before the tournament. Chappell, who had a controversial tenure as India's coach from 2005 to 2007, shared his thoughts on India's victory.

“Congratulations to India on winning the T20 World Cup. I am particularly pleased for Rahul for being part of the victory. His passion for Indian cricket has always been plain to see, so for him to have been an integral part of the planning for this win must be particularly satisfying for him. It is a wonderful way for him to finish his time with the team,” Chappell told mid-day.

The victory also marked the end of an era for Indian cricket, with stalwarts Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja announcing their retirement from T20 internationals. As India looks to the future, speculation is increasing about Dravid's successor, with former opener Gautam Gambhir emerging as a potential candidate.

Men in Blue will be next seen in action for a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, which begins July 6. Shubman Gill is set to lead the side for the series.
